Health Issues
A number of staff members have had formal first aid training and are available to assist when needed. Linda Lenoir, RN, MSN, Health Services Specialist/School Nurse is available for health referrals and counseling. She coordinates the vision, hearing, and scoliosis screening programs at Terman. Her office telephone number is 329-3766. Terman has a Health Technician on campus each day from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Health Office phone number is 354-1413.
Emergency Cards: It is essential that the emergency cards be kept up-to-date with accurate information in the office. Parents are responsible for completing the emergency card thoroughly (both front and back). Please contact the office with any changes during the year (especially phone numbers). In the event of a serious accident, we would need parental help immediately. Be sure the emergency contacts have telephones and transportation available. Any changes to the Emergency Card information must be submitted to the school district and the school office.
Medications at School: Students may NOT carry medications with them at school. The medications must remain in the office. All medications including over-the-counter-drugs require written authorization in writing from the physician and parent. Contact the Health Office at 354-1413 for requirements and necessary form. Medications must remain in the office and must never be shared with another student.
Illness: If a student has a fever or is vomiting s/he should not be sent to school. If a student feels ill while at school, they should inform their teacher and report to the office. A parent/guardian will be contacted to pick up the child. To report an absence, call the Attendance Office at 354-1405.
Injury: Any injury at school should be reported to the teacher in charge. Parents will be contacted if more than basic first aid is required. To report injuries to your insurance company, consult your policy regarding these regulations (this includes the insurance purchased through the district).
P.E. Medical Excuses: A medical excuse can be agreed upon between the student and instructor on the first day of an excused problem, after which a note from a parent is required. If a student needs to be excused from P.E. longer than a week, a doctor’s note is required. Notes should be delivered to the Attendance Office.
