Locker Guidelines

Students are expected to use their lockers daily. There is time before school, at brunch and lunch to visit lockers for materials. Backpacks may not be left in the halls or taken into classrooms as they pose a safety hazard. Lockers will be available for all Terman students. Locker dimensions are 34” in height, 9” wide and 13” deep. Each student will be assigned a book locker and black lock for books and supplies and a P.E. locker with a separate gold lock for P.E. items. The student and parent/guardian must sign a locker agreement that is provided at Back to School Day, when lockers will be issued.

While many students find lockers an exciting and helpful new experience, many will find them to be a challenge. We suggest practicing opening and closing the lock(s) at home with your child so s/he may become familiar with dial locks.

Locker Guidelines apply to both Book and P.E. lockers:

  • Lockers are the property of PAUSD on loan to students. The district and school assume no responsibility for loss or damage to any personal property placed in the lockers. The school has the right to search the lockers at any time.
  • Lockers must be secured with locks issued and purchased through the school.  School-issued locks will have a three number rotating dial. Separate locks and locker are used for P.E. Learn the combination and keep a copy in a safe place at home.
  • Students should keep items necessary for school or extracurricular school activities in the book locker.  Musical instruments are to be stored in the music room. P.E. items are to be kept in the P.E. lockers. Do not store valuables in the lockers.
  • Backpacks must be stored in lockers as they may not be left in the halls or taken into the classrooms.
  • Students are accountable for all items placed in the lockers.  Lockers and locker combinations must not be shared with other students for any reason.
  • Students are responsible for keeping lockers clean of trash including old food, drinks, and/or snacks.  The inside and outside of the lockers must be kept free of writing and stickers.  Lockers cannot be altered in any way that changes them permanently.  Lockers will need to be in the same condition at the end of the school year as they were in the beginning of the year.
  • Any school issued property missing from the locker will be the responsibility of the student/parent/guardian.
  • Students having a problem with their lockers should contact the office either before or after school or at brunch or lunch times.  Locker problems cannot be addressed while the class is in session and students should not be at their lockers during class time.

Violation of any or the above guidelines may result in a loss of locker privileges.
